I am Irish - so storytelling is deep in my DNA, I think. Certainly growing up in a large family, the ability to tell a great story over the loudness of the others, was a means of survival of the fittest. (less)

Also, I find the idea that if a child somewhere in the world benefits from the stories I have written (with love) then my books are a success. That is a really fulfilling thing to do. For years I worked as an engineer, producing reports, documents, procedures and they were all ..... well, soulless. But not my books, they carry my heart in them. And yes, I do have a favourite. “Lies can travel so fast, from one person to another. You can never take them back. It is like shaking out a pillowcase full of feathers at the top of a mountain on a windy day. Do you think you would ever be able to gather up every single feather again?”
“No, I guess not”, said the little girl.
“No, you can never find all the feathers because you will never know where they have gone – or how far”, replied the tree. “It’s the same with lies, rumours, and gossip”.”
Martha Begley Schade, The Listening Tree: Befriending Nature

“You know, everyone needs a place they can call home! They need people and a place to go which is theirs, a safe haven. A place to feel protected, where you can be yourself and unwind. A place where you are accepted. A safe roof over your head.”
Martha Begley Schade, Billa & Buster: The Circle Of Kindness

“Homelessness hurts.”

Martha Begley Schade, Flappy: The Pigeon Who Overcame Bullying. From Zero To Hero!

“He rose up and up until he was high in the sky. From there, he sailed a lot of the way, gliding on the warm sea breezes.”
Martha Begley Schade, Flappy: The Pigeon Who Overcame Bullying. from Zero to Hero!

“Funny that!", he would often think to himself. "The very worst thing about me, the thing that made others laugh and call me names, was actually the best thing that ever happened to me!
And all through the bullying, I never knew there was a hero in me, waiting to come out".”
Martha Begley Schade, Flappy: The Pigeon Who Overcame Bullying. From Zero To Hero!

“It is always worth it to rise to a challenge as happiness is often the result.”
Martha Begley Schade, Flappy: The Pigeon Who Overcame Bullying. From Zero To Hero!

“One thing is for sure, friends can be found in the strangest of places; one only needs to get out there and find them.”
