State's organized retail crime task force makes over 1,000 arrests so far this year

Governor Gavin Newsom announced the state's organized retail crime task force has made 1,055 arrests so far this year. In total, this task force has recovered $7.8 million in merchandise since January 2024.

In August, 171 arrests were made, and recovered $547,000 in stolen property.

This task force is being led by the California Highway Patrol and they partner with law enforcement agencies across the state.
