What Is The HBO Saturday Night Movie This Week?

As the States continue to slowly recover from the devastating COVID-19 pandemic following vaccine rollouts, HBO subscribers who are stuck indoors on this hazy Saturday might be wondering what the feature movie is for tonight and what time it starts. The network has historically shown a wide variety of films, which will likely expand this year due to its arrangement with WarnerMedia, with a feature movie on Saturday nights.

This week’s feature film is the 2012 American superhero film The Dark Knight Rises, which is the second in a trilogy of Batman films helmed and directed by Christopher Nolan. The classic movie was released by Warner Bros. Pictures in the States in July 2012 and stars Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne (Batman), as well as Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Anne Hathaway, Tom Hardy, Marion Cotillard, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Morgan Freeman.

You may be wondering what time the Saturday night feature film The Dark Knight Rises will air on HBO tonight? We have all the details for you below and more:

What Time Will The Dark Knight Rises Be on HBO?

The film The Dark Knight Rises will air at 8 p.m. ET on Saturday, April 17.

What Is The Dark Knight Rises on HBO About?

The Dark Knight Rises is one of the more celebrated films in Nolan’s trilogy due to its stark resemblance to comic books. While many love the first The Dark Knight movie due to Health Ledger’s brilliant portrayal of Joker, here Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) is pitted against the hulking masked terrorist Bane (Tom Hardy), a story which plays out like a ’90s Batman comic crossover, complete with the destruction of Gotham City, multiple villains, and plenty of twists.

Bane has a leg up on Batman for a decent portion of the film after trapping Gotham’s police in the sewers and destroying the bridges surrounding the city while Wayne is in jail, but when he gets out all hell breaks loose.

How to Watch The Dark Knight Rises on HBO and HBO Max

As is the case with all things HBO, you have a few ways to watch. If you have HBO included in your cable package and you prefer to watch live, you already know the drill. Make sure your TV is set to HBO around 8 p.m. ET tonight and you’re all set to watch The Dark Knight Rises.

What if you have cable but prefer to watch The Dark Knight Rises on your own time? That’s where HBO NOW and HBO Max come into play. Basically if you have any sort of HBO account, you have access to HBO Max. Choose which app you want to watch.

Personally, we recommend subscribing to HBO Max because it has so much more content. If you have HBO through your cable account, enter your cable username and password. Otherwise enter the username and password you used when you signed up for HBO NOW or HBO Max. You can also sign up for HBO Max directly.

Are you looking for that HBO free trial? Unfortunately HBO eliminated that back in December. If you want to watch HBO content, you have to pay the HBO price.

What Else Is Playing on HBO Today?

Contraband is also airing live today on HBO at 6:10 p.m. ET.

Mark Wahlberg stars in this film as Chris Faraday, a man who once smuggled illegal items (aka “contraband”) into the country on freight ships. He left that life behind when he got married and had a family, however, when his brother-in-law Andy (Caleb Landry Jones) gets involved with drug dealer Tim Briggs (Giovanni Ribisi) and blows a deal, Briggs demands restitution and Chris offers to assist. The only problem is that Briggs has now threatened Chris’ family if he doesn’t deliver.

Chris hops on a freighter destined for Panama on a mission to bring back some counterfeit currency. While he’s gone, Briggs drops in on Chris’ family and tells Chris’ friend Sebastian that it would be better for Chris to bring drugs instead of the cash.
