When The Golden Bachelorette premiered on Wednesday, September 18, Joan Vassos welcomed a group of 24 great guys to the Bachelor Mansion. From rolling up in a packed station wagon and arriving on horseback to serenading Joan and more, the entrances were all unique and creative. But only one man arrived with a jar of homemade soup: Charles “Chock” Chapple.

Those who followed Vassos on Instagram before her Golden Bachelorette era know that the 61-year-old school administrator, mom, and grandma is quite the chef. She’s posted several cooking videos, including one where she makes her famous chicken noodle soup, so Chock decided to incorporate their shared love of cooking into his entrance.

When Chock got out of the limo with a jar of soup, he walked over to Vassos, said “I’m a hugger,” and after the two warmly embraced, he said, “I’ve heard a little rumor you’ve got this very famous chicken noodle soup, so I’ve made my own Chock-a-noodle soup and need a little help from you to sample it and tell me if it’s any good.” An impressed Vassos took a spoon and slurped the soup up, saying, “That is delicious! You are good!” Chock continued being extremely charming by confidently saying, “I was thinking at our hometown visit I could make it for your family.” And his boldness worked! Vassos laughed and said, “That’s really cute and I would love that.”

For those who are desperate to know if Vassos was downing ice-cold soup on Night 1, the Golden Bachelorette lead assured me, “It was honestly hot and it was delicious.” Her only regret? “I was so embarrassed because I’ve now watched the episode and I slurp! He’s hoping this is his moment to meet the adventurous, compassionate woman he’s been looking for. When Chock isn’t working or spending time with his kids, he loves exercising and rooting for the Kansas City Chiefs. His guilty pleasure is shopping, and he can’t resist a good sale! Chock is totally a relationship guy, so let’s see if Joan is the long-term love he’s been dreaming of.”

In an August 27 Instagram post, Reality Steve revealed who he believes to be Joan Vassos’ final four contestants, and though Chock was predicted in Vassos’ Final Four, Reality Steve didn’t see him making it to the finale. Shortly before The Golden Bachelorette premiere date, however, Reality Steve posted updated spoilers and issued a major correction regarding Chock.

Now, Chock is believed to make Vassos’ finale, and Reality Steve even thinks he’s the winner. “Joan is with Chock Chapple. I do not know if they got engaged or not,” the post reads. As noted in our interview with Vassos, she went into the show fully open to leaving in a committed relationship and didn’t feel a need to get engaged, so it’s definitely possible that her and Chock left together without a ring.
