Ten days after Alyssa Farah Griffin claimed convicted con artist Anna Delvey “still owes people money,” the Republican co-host adhered to Delvey’s command and made an on-air correction at the end of Monday’s (Sept. 16) broadcast of The View.

Delvey was convicted in 2019 on grand larceny and other charges for swindling money from people while pretending to be a German heiress. She was ordered to pay restitution of nearly $200,000, and while she has since completed her prison time, she was taken into custody by ICE for overstaying her visa. However, ICE has since given her permission to compete on Dancing With the Stars, a controversial decision that became a Hot Topic on the Sept. 6 episode of The View.

“We recently discussed Anna Delvey, the convicted fraudster, noting she will be on Dancing With the Stars, and questioning the fairness of her being on the show, as it is an opportunity most convicted criminals and immigrants seeking asylum simply do not have,” Griffin said at the end of the Sept. 16 broadcast.

“After that discussion, we heard from Ms. Delvey’s lawyer, who strongly objected to our saying that ‘she still owes people money,'” Griffin continued. “He argued that statement falsely suggests she still owes restitution to her fraud victims, and he provided a document from the Office of Victim Services, that he says proves, ‘all of Ms. Delvey’s restitution has been repaid in full and all the victims have been fully compensated.”

Griffin concluded her statement by saying, “We are all looking forward to the new season of Dancing With the Stars, premiering tomorrow night right here on ABC.”

After Griffin intially claimed Delvey “still owes people money,” the latter called out The View on X, where she wrote, “While you are entitled to your own opinions, you should at least get your facts straight. I served my time and paid everyone back in full 3+ years ago. Looking forward to your on-air correction.”

In a statement to Page Six, she added, “Stay nasty ladies.”

The con artist’s team released a statement to Entertainment Weekly in light of The View’s on-air correction.

“We are thankful that The View has corrected their false and defamatory statements about Ms. Delvey,” they wrote. “Like so many others, Anna has made mistakes and, most importantly, she has made amends by serving both time in prison and repaying all her debts in full. Anna deserves a second chance and accepts The View’s apology.”

The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
