Kelly Ripa‘s got a crush! On Live with Kelly and Mark on Monday, Ripa shared that she “had an emergency dental procedure last night with [her] beloved Dr. Lowenberg,” preventing her from tuning into the 76th Emmy Awards.

After Mark Consuelos pointed out that “doctors don’t usually work on Sundays,” Ripa joked, “At this point, I believe I am injuring my own mouth just so I can see him because I have such a crush on my dentist.”

She explained how she had an “emergency temporary cap put on” her tooth from an incident that took place in July.

“I bit into a cherry pie — so simple and innocent — and I cracked my tooth,” she recalled. “I thought that I had broken my tooth, but I spit out just a pit, and I went about my business and everything was fine. When I went for my usual tooth cleaning, they were like, ‘Your tooth is broken.'”

Ripa later noted that she “needed to have [the cap] reset,” prompting Consuelos to explain that “it came out.”

Ripa admitted, “Well, he told me not to floss and I flossed. I’m a human being, I can’t not floss!”

Meanwhile, Consuelos hyped up his wife and co-host’s appearance amid her tooth troubles.

“I remember you were driving down to see your folks and it had come out, and I was like… I said you should leave it out for a while, it’s kinda cool, on the side,” he said.

Ripa continued describing what had happened, telling viewers, “Imagine if you’re not chewing gum, and suddenly, a piece of gum appears in your mouth. I was like, what is this? I was like, is this my tooth? This is the first stage of when you know it’s time to hang it up. Put away your dance shoes!”

Eventually Ripa praised her dentist as “a saint and an angel,” and said that he had told her “he could not have [her] going on television.”

“He said, ‘You should be able to push it back into place,’ and like a little puzzle piece, it went right back into place. He goes, ‘But what if it loosens and falls out on TV?’ He goes, ‘I cannot have a person who has professed their love for me on television missing anything,'” she quipped.
