Ana Navarro just gained a few more Republican defectors. The longtime conservative co-host of the The View — who has strayed from her party in recent years and even appeared at the Democratic National convention and pledged her support for both President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris — praised Liz Cheney and Dick Cheney for denouncing Donald Trump and backing Harris at the polls this fall.

Today’s episode of The View opened with discussion of the remarks Liz made on ABC News’ This Week, during which she urged other Republicans not to write in a vote and to instead cast their ballot for Harris.

“I think that this time around, that’s not enough, that it’s important to actually cast a vote for Vice President Harris,” Liz said, before noting that this election would mark her very first time voting for a Democrat; she also told This Week she can’t support Trump because he “poses a challenge and a threat fundamentally to the republic.”

Liz’s father shared last week that he, too, is voting for Harris: “In our nation’s 248-year history, there has never been an individual who is a greater threat to our republic than Donald Trump,” Dick said in a statement, per CNN. “He tried to steal the last election using lies and violence to keep himself in power after the voters had rejected him. He can never be trusted with power again.”

After playing a clip of Liz’s This Week appearance, the panel offered their thoughts, with Navarro becoming a bit emotional as she issued a heartfelt thank you to the father and daughter for going public with their vote.

“I have something I’d like to say to Liz Cheney and Dick Cheney: Thank you, thank you for doing this, thank you for putting country first,” she said. “Look, it’s hard. It’s hard when you are a Republican — particularly when you’re a Cheney — when you’re with somebody who’s been in politics your entire life since the womb to do something which feels disloyal to this party that’s been part of your life forever.

“But these are special circumstances. To me, this is not about policy,” she continued. “We can have all the policy differences in the world. This is about basic humanity, moral compass and fitness to serve.”

Navarro also noted that the Cheneys’ words offer “safety in numbers” for Republicans also wary of Trump. Letting it rip, she practically spit out, “he is a disgusting, disgusting human being.”
