Taylor Sheridan’s ‘Landman’ Serves Up Fiery First Teaser: “The World Has Already Convinced Itself That You Are Evil”

Paramount+ unveiled its first official trailer for Taylor Sheridan‘s latest series Landman, starring Billy Bob Thornton and Jon Hamm.

The fiery drama takes place at the ground level of the billion dollar oil industry in West Texas, where “roughnecks and wildcat billionaires” vie for power. The series is based on the podcast Boomtown from Imperative Entertainment and Texas Monthly.

The official trailer gives us a closer look at the deadly oil rig business.

“Oil and gas industry makes $3 billion a day in pure profit – and it’s only getting bigger. But before any of that money is made you’ve got to secure the land and manage the people,” Thornton’s character, Tommy Norris, says in the trailer. “That’s my job. First part’s pretty simple, it’s the second part that can get you killed.”

Hamm’s character Monty Miller, described as a “titan of the Texas oil industry who has a long personal and professional relationship” with Norris, can be seen schmoozing with politicians in the trailer.

“The world has already convinced itself that you are evil, I am evil by providing them the one thing they interact with every day,” he declares in the trailer.

Landman looks like it’s shaping up to be a deadly face-off between Miller and Norris. But the employees on the ground are the ones who actually suffer the deadly consequences of working in this industry. The trailer shows a young man recovering in the hospital after what looks like a near-fatal explosion at the rig.

Demi Moore, Michael Peña, and Ali Laster also star.

Landman is the latest series Sheridan’s developed for Paramount+, including 1923, 1883 and Lioness.

The new series will have a two-episode premiere Nov. 17, with new episodes airing every Sunday after that.
