The View had nothing but kind words to say about the son of late Sen. John McCain on this morning’s episode, but the co-hosts conveniently avoided mentioning McCain’s other child: their former colleague Meghan McCain.

The McCain family name was the first Hot Topic of the day as the ladies launched into a discussion about Donald Trump‘s recent photo op at Arlington National Cemetery, where he posed for a picture despite a rule against filming on the premises.

His stunt sparked plenty of backlash, including some scathing comments from Jimmy McCain, John McCain’s son, who told CNN that Trump “[took] away the respect of the people” buried in the cemetery, and offered his endorsement to Kamala Harris despite his family’s conservative history.

Joy Behar was especially impressed by Jimmy’s words, but didn’t seem to recognize his not-so-distant connection to the show, saying, “I want to salute this McCain person, Jimmy McCain, good for you.”

She added, “He stuck up for the correct thing, for the country, as opposed to the party.”

Sunny Hostin, meanwhile, couldn’t speak highly enough of John’s youngest son.

“He went further, though, which I found extremely impressive. He’s a registered Independent, and we know that some Independents never vote Republican and some Independents never vote Democrat,” Hostin said. “So they’re actually in one camp or the other. He said he switched from being an Independent to being a Democrat and he will be voting for the Harris/Walz ticket. That says to me a lot, because this race is really, this election, is really coming down to values and character and two very different visions of America.”

She then hinted at Jimmy’s family, but still didn’t come close to naming Meghan.

“For this young man, who comes from a war hero, right, who is deeply conservative and has been, to say the values that I hold are held by the Harris/Walz team, I think that should be on ads all over the country,” Hostin said.

Then again, we can’t say we’re exactly shocked that the table didn’t jump at the chance to mention Meghan’s name. She hasn’t exactly raved about her time on the show, which she joined in 2017 and left in 2021. And the last time they indirectly chatted about her during a discussion about Dr. Fauci, Meghan quickly and boldly spoke out — even though Sara Haines only hinted at her by referring to “someone here.”

When the June segment made its way back to Meghan, she reposted it and tweeted, “Imagine still being shocked people didn’t want their kids masked, vaccinated with an untested vaccine or to have our families isolated in one state while other states were open for no other reason than politics,” she wrote, adding, “F— Fauci. These women will never quit me.”

The View airs weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
