Jimmy Kimmel is back on ABC after taking a summer hiatus, and what better way to celebrate than take some shots at former U.S. President Donald Trump?

Kimmel spent almost his entire opening monologue looking back on the wild things Trump said during his campaign, but one statement particularly stood out to the late night host.

He shared an interview where Trump called Kamala Harris out for how she treated his former vice president, Mike Pence. “Now they have Kamala, who they say has many deficiencies, but she’s a nasty person. The way she treated Mike Pence was horrible. The way she treats people is horrible,” Trump said.

Trump was referring to the viral moment from their 2020 debate in which Pence interrupted Harris, prompting her to reply, “Mr. Vice President, I’m speaking.”

Kimmel could not hold back his incredulous laughter as he fired back, “The way she treated Mike Pence was horrible?! You sent an army of toothless goons to hang him and then sat back and watched it on TV! Mike Pence is probably voting for Kamala Harris.”

The Live crowd cheered in response as Kimmel continued, “There are a lot of things Trump isn’t good at. One of the things he especially isn’t good at it s choosing running mates. He made a huge mistake with this JD Vance who can’t stop stepping in it.”

He added that Vance looks like he “wears more eyeliner than Liza Minelli” but lacks a “better understanding of women.”

“JD Vance looks like someone asked AI to make the Two and a Half Men one person,” he joked.

But Kimmel appears to be a big fan of Harris’ pick, Minnesota governor Tim Walz. “I don’t know where they were hiding him, I mean he is beautiful,” Kimmel said. “His blood type is corn dog batter, he belongs to several pickle of the month clubs.”

The late night host added that he’s finally feeling better about the election, as he went on his summer hiatus just after President Joe Biden’s disappointing debate performance that led him to drop out of the race.

Jimmy Kimmel Live airs on weeknights at 11:35/10:35c on ABC.
