Jamie Foxx‘s next gig is quite a personal one.

The Ray star, who was hospitalized back in April 2023 with a mysterious medical complication, took to Instagram on Monday (Sept. 2) to announce that he plans to disclose what went down last year.

Billed as “an unforgettable one-man show,” the event — titled “WHAT HAD HAPPENED WAS” — will feature Foxx taking the stage “to share his journey through a serious health scare, filled with humor, heart, and inspiration.”

“Experience Jamie Foxx like never before in this intimate and engaging performance, as he opens up about his struggles, triumphs, and everything in between,” his post reads. “Get ready for a night of laughter, reflection, and genuine connection.”

Per Foxx’s post, the “exclusive one-man show” will take place on three nights (Oct. 3, 4, and 5) in Atlanta. The post notes, “ticket information [is] coming soon.”

In July 2023, Foxx had told fans on social media that he “went to hell and back,” but insisted that he was “coming back and able to work.” The following month, he issued an Instagram update, noting that he was “finally startin to feel like [him]self.”

He has since stepped back into the public eye and returned to host Beat Shazam alongside his daughter, Corinne Foxx. His troubled film Back in Action, co-starring Cameron Diaz, also landed a Nov. 15 release date on Netflix.

In July, a viral clip on X hinted at Foxx’s health struggles. In the clip, which was filmed in Phoenix, Ariz., Foxx explains that he “was gone for 20 days” after experiencing a headache on April 11, 2023 and asking for an Advil.

“I don’t remember anything. I’m in Atlanta, they told me … my sister and my daughter took me to the first doctor. They gave me a cortisone shot,” he says in the clip. “The next doctor said, There’s something going on up there. I won’t say it on camera.”
