Bridgerton‘s Charithra Chandran is jumping into a new role as a series regular for Season 2 of One Piece.

In the book series, Chandran’s character, Miss Wednesday, is the daughter of Nefertari Cobra and Titi. “Miss Wednesday” is the codename the character uses- her real name is Nefertari Vivi, and she is the princess of Alabasta.

The actress joins a wide array of other newly announced cast members, including Katey Sagal as Dr. Kureha, Mark Harelik as Dr. Hiriluk and Sendhil Ramamurthy as Nefertari Cobra. Returning from the original cast is Iñaki Godoy as Monkey D. Luffy, Mackenyu as Zoro, Emily Rudd as Nami, Jacob Romero as Usopp, Taz Skylar as Sanji, Ilia Isorelys Paulino as Alvida, Jeff Ward as Buggy, and Michael Dorman as Gold Roger.

The show was renewed for a second season back in September of 2023, asking fans to “be patient” while the team took time to work. As of right now, there is still no official release date for Season 2, but it is expected to come back to Netflix sometime in 2025.

One Piece is based on Japan’s highest-selling manga series in history by Eiichiro Oda. The series follows Monkey D. Luffy, “a young adventurer who has longed for a life of freedom since he can remember,” according to a press release from Netflix.

“Luffy sets off from his small village on a perilous journey to find the legendary fabled treasure, One Piece, to become King of the Pirates!” the release reads. “But in order to find the ultimate prize, Luffy will need to assemble the crew he’s always wanted before finding a ship to sail, searching every inch of the vast seas, outpacing the Marines, and outwitting dangerous rivals at every turn.”

Season 2 of the show is currently in production in Cape Town, Africa. The show is created in partnership with Shueisha and produced by Tomorrow Studios and Netflix. While the cast for Season 2 since the renewal announcement has grown exponentially, Netflix revealed that additional cast members for the upcoming season are still yet to be announced.

Season 1 of One Piece is available to stream now on Netflix.
