The highly anticipated Love Island USA Season 6 reunion has finally premiered on Peacock and fans are quite divided over what went down during the special.

One particularly contentious moment kicked off right at the beginning of the reunion when host Ariana Madix attempted to check in on Kendall Washington and Nicole Jacky, one of the final four couples.

Their relationship status has been up in the air considering they had not been seen together since the finale, leaving fans to wonder if it had anything to do with the NSFW video of Washington that leaked the day of the finale. But their argument at the reunion left many coming to Washington’s defense.

“It’s been a bit tough on the outside,” Kendall began saying to Madix, “Just trying to communicate — ”

Nicole quickly interjected to comment, “Communicate? You have not been communicating. You never have been.” She then called him out, claiming, “You lied to my face.”

Washington began to stutter as he struggled to address the video. “When I got out the villa… I’m just gonna say something happened. I should have told Nicole the full truth when it happened and I didn’t,” he admitted.

“I just want to say something because obviously the video is not okay, like nobody deserves that, everybody in this room can agree,” Jacky replied. “However, I think if you say you love somebody in the moment when you’re telling them about something you need to be honest.”

She continued, “Instead of saying it’s from years ago to someone you trusted, an ex-girlfriend, and them I find out later from JaNa [Craig] that it was in the hotel room before you go on the show to someone on a dating app is crazy.”

She later accused Washington of failing to check on her amid the backlash from the video, which drew their co-stars to defend Washington. But it looks like many viewers at home were also coming to Washington’s defense as they became divided over whether Jacky should have brought up the video at all during the reunion.

“Ahhh Nicole should have not waited until the reunion to speak her truth. These should have been private conversations between the two of them,” one fan wrote on X.

“I’m not a Kendall fan but Nicole is missing the point. Kendall had a private video leaked and she doesn’t seem to have a shred of sympathy for how he reacted badly to an impossibly horrible situation????” another fan wrote.

Others appeared to have noticed how emotional Washington became during the reunion. One fan wrote, “Kendall was literally shaking. That man is traumatized. The fact that Nicole even brought it up on TV knowing they haven’t talked about it privately first is VERY telling.”

“Should Kendall have lied? no. is it understandable that he did? yes,” one viewer commented. “Nicole gotta extend some grace……..like come on.”

This is an interesting change of heart from Love Island USA fans considering Washington was often criticized for his actions on the show.

Despite the argument, Jacky noted that they are “still together,” though she admitted to E! News that they were having a “hard” time.

“I think for me, the one thing I asked for in a relationship is honesty, and he hasn’t been giving me that,” she said. “So, trying to navigate like how you move forward and trust someone. And it’s such a special situation.”
