‘Days Of Our Lives’: Emily O’Brien Bids Farewell To The Soap After Over 350 Episodes

The sun has set on Emily O’Brien‘s run on Days of Our Lives.

Per Soap Opera Digest, the soap star made her last appearance as Theresa Donovan on Thursday’s (Aug. 8) episode, which is streaming on Peacock. As noted by the outlet, O’Brien began her run on the show as Gwen Rizczech before taking on her most recent role. Per IMDb, she has appeared in over 350 episodes of the show since 2020.

According to Soap Opera Digest and Entertainment Weekly, O’Brien took over the role of Theresa from Jen Lilley in 2023. In fact, she made the transition between roles in the same episode. Per Deadline, Lilley claimed that the recasting “was just not handled the right way” in an interview with Soaps.com at the time.

Nonetheless, O’Brien gushed to Soap Opera Digest that she “not only got to play one amazing role, but [she] played two amazing roles,” per EW.

“I ended up falling in love with Theresa and who she is and the circle that she’s involved in,” she shared. “The fact that [they] put their trust in me to play both of these roles.… I just feel so grateful for that experience. It’s been a crazy, wild ride — just mind-blowing.”

The long running soap has continued to stream new episodes on Peacock throughout this summer’s Olympics.
