Flavor Flav Makes Up Original Song To Honor U.S. Women’s Water Polo Goalie In Exclusive ‘Olympic Highlights’ Clip

It’s no secret that the U.S. has had standout athletes at this year’s Olympic Games in Paris, but it’s not only the medalists that are gaining the world’s attention.

While many big names from entertainment, such as Snoop Dogg, Martha Stewart, Colin Jost and more have traveled to the games to generate excitement and moments that will be talked about for years to come, rapper Flavor Flav took his expertise abroad of his own accord.

According to an article published by WCNC, Flav came across a social media post from the captain of the U.S. women’s water polo team asking for support during the Paris Olympics. Flav responded that he wanted to sponsor the whole team, citing his reasoning as being a “girl dad” and wanting to support women’s sports. Yeah, we’re crying, too.

The rapper committed to supporting the team financially for the next five years, a massive relief to a team full of athletes who fundraise their way to the games every four years.

The water polo team has become close with the artist, even inviting him to their practices so he could try the sport out for himself. The women on the team have been outspoken about how grateful they are for his dedication and support of their team.

In an exclusive clip from tonight’s upcoming episode of Olympic Highlights With Kevin Hart and Kenan Thompson shared with DECIDER, the comedians interview olympian Ashleigh Johnson about Flav’s support overseas.

“Has there ever been a day where Flav has showed up and you thought to yourself, ‘Enough, Flav?’ Like, okay,” Hart asked the water polo goalie.

“Okay, so one thing about Flav is that he can create a chant out of no where,” Johnson laughed. “And even if no one joins in, he will carry that chant, and that energy within our team is just amazing.”

The NBC studio and the two hosts erupted into laughter over the athlete’s answer.

“I love it, man,” Thompson said. “We had Flav on the show and he’s out there lending his support, but he also created this song.”

The crew cut to a clip of Flav decked out in head to toe USA red white and blue gear, singing an original song with the lyrics: “Holy, holy, holy/that’s why Ashleigh’s the goalie.”

“Those are the moment’s I’m talking about,” said Hart as the camera cut back to him. “When that happens, is there a moment when you look over and you’re like, ‘Yup, alright, I’m done with this?'”

“It’s also not a compliment in there,” quipped Thompson.”It’s just facts.”

“It’s just the facts, it’s just the facts,” Johnson laughed.

All we have to say? If Flav drops an Olympics-themed album, we’re the first ones listening.
