Chadwick Boseman‘s final tweet resurfaced on X amid the recent news that President Joe Biden endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris to become the next Democratic presidential nominee.

The Black Panther star, who passed away in 2020 following a private battle with cancer, shared a photo in August of that year showing himself and Harris posing together at an event. “YES @KamalaHarris!” he wrote. “#WhenWeAllVote #Vote2020.”

Boseman died just days later on Aug. 28, 2020.

The resurfaced tweet spurred countless responses from fans, many of whom expressed that they wished he was still around to witness this historical moment.

“Wish you were here to see her become our first female President!” one fan wrote.

Another replied, “Continue to rest in power! We got her again this November !!”

Other fans became emotional after seeing the resurfaced post from Boseman. “I feel like I got punched in the chest I miss him so much,” one shared on X.

Boseman passed away at the age of 43 after enduring a private battle with stage IV colon cancer. According to a statement shared on his social media, Boseman filmed many of his final projects — including Marshall, Da 5 Bloods, and August Wilson’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom — while undergoing “countless surgeries and chemotherapy.”

Harris issued a statement to honor the late actor, shouting out their shared alma mater Howard University. “Heartbroken. My friend and fellow Bison Chadwick Boseman was brilliant, kind, learned, and humble. He left too early but his life made a difference. Sending my sincere condolences to his family,” she wrote.

President Biden dropped out of the race Sunday (July 17) amid growing concerns with his age and mental acuity following his disappointing debate performance against Trump.

He quickly followed up his announcement with an endorsement for Harris, writing on X, “My very first decision as the party nominee in 2020 was to pick Kamala Harris as my Vice President. And it’s been the best decision I’ve made. Today I want to offer my full support and endorsement for Kamala to be the nominee of our party this year. Democrats — it’s time to come together and beat Trump. Let’s do this.”

Reports say the Democratic Party experienced “the biggest fundraising day of the 2024 cycle” after Biden’s endorsement spurred $49.6 million in grassroots donations.

Harris has since been endorsed by Bill and Hillary Clinton, as well as former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Several celebrities have also endorsed the VP, including Charli XCX, Jamie Lee Curtis, Amy Schumer, Sheryl Lee Ralph and more.
