The View always gets fiery when Chris Christie stops by, but today was especially heated. The former New Jersey governor had plenty to say after watching the final evening of the Republican National Convention last night (July 18), and while he maintained that he won’t be supporting Republican nominee Donald Trump at the polls this fall, he still caused plenty of chaos around the Hot Topics table.

Christie told the panel that he thinks President Joe Biden needs to drop out of the race, but when Ana Navarro asked him if he would “vote for a Democratic ticket” — noting that she knows he isn’t voting for Trump — Christie replied, “Right now, I’m not voting for either. I’m just not.”

He added, “One guy is completely mentally incompetent to do the job—” but he was cut off by Joy Behar, who interjected, “But you have to vote!”

Christie replied, “No, I’m gonna vote down ticket. I don’t have to vote, no!”

This didn’t go over well at the table, to put it lightly.

As her co-hosts insisted that Christie has a duty to cast his vote this fall, Sunny Hostin chimed in, “You can’t throw away your vote! I asked you this the last time you were on, Chris. Are you gonna sit this one out?”

Christie told her, “I disagree with you,” while noting, “I am gonna sit this one out.”

Navarro, always quick with a comeback of her own, told their guest, “But Chris, don’t you think it’s rich for you to tell the Democrats that they’ve got to get rid of their nominee when you’re not willing to vote for any of their nominees?”

Christie insisted, “I didn’t say that,” and told the panel he’d wait and see if the Democrats drop Biden as their presumptive nominee. He added, “I’m willing to consider anybody who presents themselves as someone who will make the country better.”

Later in the segment, Christie ticked off the panel again — with the exception of Alyssa Farah Griffin — when he declined to endorse a hypothetical Kamala Harris and Josh Shapiro ticket.

As Christie said he wasn’t sure if he would vote for Harris-Shapiro at the polls because he’d need to “see what they have to say,” Navarro threw her hands up in exasperation, but Griffin exclaimed, “You have to see what they have to say! Policy matters.”

Hostin, though, stuck to her original message, telling Christie once again, “You can’t sit this one out.”
