With Donald Trump set to take the stage at the Republican National Convention to deliver his speech after surviving an attempted assassination last week, Republicans have taken to wearing fake ear bandages out of solidarity for the former president. But Anthony Anderson isn’t buying it.

Anderson, who is guest hosting Jimmy Kimmel Live this week, called out the Republicans’ hypocrisy during Wednesday’s (July 17) broadcast.

“A lot of people wore bandages over their ears out of solidarity and stupidity,” he said. “These are the same folks who wouldn’t put a cloth over their face because of Covid because they thought it looked ridiculous.”

The comedian also called out former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley for going back on her previous statement just five months ago that the Republican party “can’t win if Donald Trump is the nominee.”

Anderson blasted Haley for giving Trump her “strong endorsement” at the RNC this week.

“And let me make one thing perfectly clear, you are a total sellout with no spine. Period,” Anderson fired back.

Anderson also shared an update for “all the other fascists – I mean fashionistas.” He noted that Trump is now selling a $299 pair of sneakers emblazoned with a photo of him pumping his fist after the attack. “They’re called the Ear Jordans,” Anderson joked.

This has certainly been a busy week for this year’s presidential election, to put it lightly.

Trump chose J.D. Vance — who appears to believe that daylight savings time affects fertility — to be his running mate. He is also set to deliver a speech at the RNC Thursday (July 18).

On the other side of the aisle, President Joe Biden is still facing pressure to exit the race while there is still time. And now, he has reportedly tested positive for Covid.

What this could mean for the presidential election remains to be seen. But we’ll surely hear more about it on Jimmy Kimmel Live.

Jimmy Kimmel Live airs weeknights at 11:35 ET/PT.
