On-screen siblings and former child actors Mara Wilson, Matthew Lawrence, and Lisa Jakub recently reunited for an upcoming episode of Lawrence’s podcast Brotherly Love to celebrate the 30-year anniversary of the iconic 1993 comedy, Mrs. Doubtfire.

Jakub shared an image of herself and her co-stars on social media, writing, “The sisters had so much fun hanging out with the brothers. [Wilson and Lawrence] still feel like my siblings — even 30 years after filming Mrs Doubtfire.”

On Threads, she wrote a similar message reading, “We had a little reunion. 🥰 30 years later and my Mrs. Doubtfire family still feels like family.”

Wilson also shared the same image. “So funny that the same week I went to San Francisco, I got to reunite with my Doubtfire siblings!” she wrote in a post on Instagram. “”It’s always a joy to see @lisa.jakub and @matthewlawrence, and always so much fun to be on @officialbrotherlylovepod.”

Per her message, it appears that Wilson and Jakub can be expected on an upcoming episode of Brotherly Love, which airs on Fridays. Lawrence co-hosts the podcast show with his siblings, Joey Lawrence and Andrew Lawrence, who also worked as child actors.

Wilson, Lawrence, and Jakub starred in Mrs. Doubtfire as the three young children of voice actor Daniel Hillard, famously played by the late Robin Williams. After Daniel’s wife Miranda (Sally Field) asks for a divorce, Daniel goes to great lengths to spend time with his children, even going so far as donning a disguise and becoming Mrs. Doubtfire, the nanny Miranda hired to watch the children.

Mrs. Doubtfire was the second-highest earning film in the 1993 box office, with $441 million grossed worldwide.

Director Chris Columbus revealed that they had begun discussing making a sequel around the time of Williams’ death in 2014.

“Back then, there was an attitude that sequels were looked down upon by the artists. So Robin was against doing a sequel immediately after,” Columbus told Business Insider in 2023.

He explained, “[Robin] and I didn’t talk about a sequel until the year he passed away. We had a script that was written and it was the last time I saw Robin. I went to his house and we sat down and talked about it and the script was really strong. Robin’s only comment was, ‘Boss, do I have to be in the suit as much this time?’ It was physically demanding. For Robin, I think it was like running a marathon every day he was in the Doubtfire costume. He was older, obviously.”

Columbus added that Williams appeared to hope they could “cut back on the Doubtfire character” in the rewritten script.

“But then Robin passed away so there will never be a sequel to Mrs. Doubtfire,” he said.

Mrs. Doubtfire is now streaming on Disney+.
