So many feuds, so few installments in Ryan Murphy’s critically-acclaimed FX anthology series.

On the heels of the FEUD: Capote Vs. The Swans finale, fans of the dramatic, star-studded series will likely be wondering if new episodes of FEUD await in the future, or if Truman Capote’s tale of betrayal against “the swans” was the final fallout Murphy and his team will adapt for screen.

Before FEUD: Capote Vs. The Swans became our weekly FX/Hulu watch, FEUD: Bette and Joan gave the world a closer look at Bette Davis and Joan Crawford’s complex history. So will FEUD carry on after Capote Vs. The Swans?

Here’s everything we know about the future of Murphy’s engrossing series, including quotes from FX boss John Landgraf.

Will There Be a FEUD Season 3 on FX?

Since FEUD is an anthology series and there’s a long list of historic feuds just waiting to receive the television treatment, the potential for additional installments certainly exists. But will FX and Murphy’s team decide to make more seasons of the critically-acclaimed series? The short answer is only time will tell.

As of FEUD: Capote Vs. The Swan‘s finale day, FEUD Season 3 had yet to be officially confirmed, but it hadn’t been canceled either. Back in 2017, Murphy teased FEUD Season 3 in a Variety interview and a Vanity Fair interview, saying that he wanted the third installment to focus on a feud between two gay men. Those comments came when Season 2 was still focused on telling Princess Diana’s story, so who knows what’s changed since then. Though we may not have a Season 3 update from Murphy, Chairman of FX Content & FX Productions John Landgraf shared some recent insights regarding the future of FEUD. Here’s what he had to say!

FEUD Season 3: FX Boss John Landgraf Weighs In On ‘FEUD‘s Future

During an executive session at the 2024 Winter Television Critics Association Press Tour in February, Landgraf told TCA members that new ideas for Murphy’s popular FX series — including FEUD — are always being bounced around.

“Obviously, he has his own methodology for communicating when he wants to communicate.  And so, he’s a little different than everybody else,” Landgraf said of Murphy. “I can tell you he’s working on a whole bunch of new things for us right now that I’m really excited about, that I think he’ll be announcing relatively soon.  And there’s always a lot of ideas circulating about potential new seasons of American Crime Story or American Sports Story or American Love Story or FEUD, but I sort of never know which one he’s going to latch onto next. So unfortunately, I don’t have anything more to offer on that.”

In a 2019 TCA interview with Decider, Landgraf shared more about Murphy’s creative process, saying, “When he gets obsessed with something, he manifests it. It just simply leaps into the world. So, to be honest with you, the way it is to work with Ryan is, you’re sitting there, you get a call from Ryan Murphy and he says ‘I [have] become obsessed with this and I’m going to make a television series, season about it’ and you say ‘Great.’ Right? If Ryan calls me tomorrow and says ‘I’m obsessed with this feud’ then he’s gonna make it… Frankly, a lot of times I don’t know what Ryan’s working on until it’s ready to explode out of his head into the world.”

When Will FEUD Season 3 Premiere On FX?

If Murphy does get inspiration for FEUD Season 3, when can we expect new episodes? Well, it’s clear from Landgraf’s comments that Murphy-related projects are fairly unpredictable. It’s also worth nothing there was a massive seven-year gap between FEUD‘s first two installments, with Bette & Joan premiering in March 2017 and Capote Vs. The Swans kicking off in January 2024. So we’d have to wait for a Season 3 confirmation before attempting to predict a premiere date. That said, if a Season 3 does happen here’s hoping it arrives before 2031.

FEUD: Capote Vs. The Swans is now streaming on Hulu.
