Jenna Bush Hager, Hoda Kotb Admit They’re Feeling “Grumpy” During ‘Today’s International Women’s Day Discussion: “Sorry Men! Byeee!”

Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager became increasingly “grumpy” on Today as they discussed how women are sometimes treated in the workplace as part of their International Women’s Day segment.

After praising Cole Brauer, the 29-year-old who recently became the first American woman to sail the world alone, Kotb said her reception has reminded her of how women are often treated when they’re the first or only women in their respective field.

Bush Hager then referenced the fact that Kotb and Savannah Guthrie are the first female duo to co-host Today.

“It’s so interesting because you probably get [that] constantly, the first women who have hosted The Today Show together,” she told Kotb. “And you’re like, I’m me, hosting The Today Show. Let’s live in that.”

“Yes! I think it’s cool for our girls to know those things aren’t strange anymore, but I just find it so crazy that in this day and age we’re still having those conversations,” Kotb said. She later added that she hoped their message resonated with “the young women watching, because women are the ones figuring it out.”

Bush Hager then added, “Remember during the pandemic, it was always the women that are solving these problems.” She then turned to the camera and playfully added, “Sorry men! Byeee! It’s International Women’s Day.”

She then joked that they didn’t mean any harm to “our one man fan who watches on the elliptical” every day. “We love you,” she said, as Kotb blew a kiss to the camera.

Kotb then backtracked their comments, adding that they did not mean “anything against men” as Bush Hager added, “No, not anti-man! Pro-women doesn’t mean anti-man.”

The segment seemed to get them worked up — even Kotb noted that she and her co-host were coming off a bit “edgy.” Just yesterday, Kotb also called Bush Hager out for the same thing.

“We’re grumpy,” Bush Hager said as she closed her eyes.

She joked that her “grumpy” mood might also be because of the segment they were poised to do later on in the broadcast, in which they try different viral kitchen hacks.
