You always find your way back home. After a months-long search for Trevor Noah‘s replacement, The Daily Show has announced that Jon Stewart will return to host the Comedy Central talk show once a week.

Stewart — who originally hosted The Daily Show from 1999 to 2015 — will step back into his hosting duties every Monday night starting Feb. 12 and lasting through the 2024 election cycle, while various comedians will take turns helming the show from Tuesdays to Thursdays.

Plus, Stewart will serve as an executive producer, which could last well into 2025, according to Variety.

“Jon Stewart is the voice of our generation, and we are honored to have him return to Comedy Central’s The Daily Show to help us all make sense of the insanity and division roiling the country as we enter the election season,” Chris McCarthy, President/CEO of Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios, said in a statement to the outlet.

He continued, “In our age of staggering hypocrisy and performative politics, Jon is the perfect person to puncture the empty rhetoric and provide much-needed clarity with his brilliant wit.”

The comedian posted his own witty announcement on X (the platform formerly known as Twitter).

“Friends. After much reflection I have decided to enter the transfer portal for my last year of eligibility,” he wrote. “Excited for the future!”

Stewart helped put The Daily Show on the map before Noah took over as host in 2015. Ever since the latter announced his departure in late 2022, celebrity guest hosts have been stepping in while Comedy Central searches for a permanent replacement.

After leaving nearly a decade ago, Stewart launched his own Apple TV+ comedy show The Problem With Jon Stewart, which was abruptly canceled last year after two seasons due to creative differences between the comedian and Apple, per the New York Times.

Between his show getting the axe and the oodles of material to come out of what’s shaping out to be a rematch between Joe Biden and Donald Trump, Stewart couldn’t have picked a better time to return to his roots!

The Daily Show airs Mondays through Thursdays at 11 p.m. ET on Comedy Central.
