This morning’s Live with Kelly and Mark tackled quite the hairy dilemma that many of us experience — and its unruly consequences.

Kelly Ripa shared her desire to get a haircut, which Mark Consuelos immediately replied, “You don’t.”

“You wanna, but you don’t wanna,” he insisted.

Ripa agreed, noting that she only wants to change up her hair until she actually follows through with it, and making the case that at work, her hair is styled for her, whereas “on [her] own, out in the wild,” she is responsible for her looks.

“And I’m not a hairstylist, and I’ve never gotten good at it,” she admitted.

Consuelos disagreed, but highlighted that whenever Ripa has “a shorter haircut, [she] immediately regret[s] it.”

Ripa then introduced “the bixie cut,” a new hairstyle defined as “a cross between a pixie cut and a bob.”

After showing pictures of models sporting the trending style, who she joked were “all under the age of 20,” Ripa argued that she’d like to see these same people “out in the wild, on their own, [and] not under the aid of a hairstylist,” and even “after they’ve woken up in the morning.”

She reiterated that she “live[s] in fear of cutting [her] hair,” and Consuelos surprisingly said that he shares the same feelings.

“Early on in the relationship, you’d say, ‘I think I should go for this really cool, edgy haircut.’ I’m like, ‘Do it, babe! It’s awesome! Go for it!'” he recalled. “And then you wouldn’t like it, and you would blame me for the haircut.”

Ripa chimed in, “He encouraged me to get a Carol Brady haircut! Remember Carol Brady from The Brady Bunch?”

Consuelos defended himself, claiming that he had “encouraged [Ripa] to get the Michelle Pfeiffer haircut,” which somehow ended up resembling the Brady family matriarch.

“I’m like, wait, what happened?” he exclaimed. “I saw Michelle Pfeiffer like five minutes ago. Now it’s Carol Brady!”

Consuelos said he now reverts to the following when prompted for his opinion: “I just say, ‘Babe, do what you wanna do,'” he said.

Meanwhile, Ripa said that he adds the disclaimer that she’ll “be miserable until [she cuts her hair off,” which then”discourages” her.

Perplexed, Consuelos asked for what he should tell his wife in this scenario, as Ripa quipped, “Just don’t say anything!”
