Influencer And ‘SI Swimsuit’ Rookie Olivia Dunne Claims She’s Been “Shadow Banned” On TikTok Now That Her Videos Have Stopped Hitting A Million Views

TikTok superstar and Louisiana State University gymnast Olivia Dunne recently alleged on the platform that she believes she’s been “shadow banned.”

According to Deadline, Dunne commented on a recent video asking why she was “shadow banned” after noticing that many of her recent videos were receiving much lower viewership than usual.

The last five videos from the influencer all failed to hit one million views, which was previously a general benchmark for her content. Shadow banning is a practice where a social media platform may limit the engagement and reach of content that is shared. It is currently unclear what could be affecting her engagement on TikTok.

This is not the first time something fishy has happened with her account.

Earlier this year, Dunne’s TikTok account seemingly disappeared from the platform for a brief period of time.

She addressed the mistake after fans noticed the strange activity on her account. “It’s a glitch. Idk what’s wrong with my account right now,” she wrote on X.

The D1 athlete, who was recently named one of Forbes‘ top creators of 2023, has 7.8 million followers on TikTok alone. The outlet reports that she is the most followed college athlete in the world.

She is now slated to return for Sports Illustrated Swimsuit‘s 2024 issue as a rookie.

“Coming back for Year 2, I mean, last year I said it was a dream come true, and nothing’s changed,” Dunne told Sports Illustrated. “It’s still a dream come true. I can’t believe I can call myself a rookie. It feels unreal.”

She later added that her previous shoot with the magazine “opened a bunch of new doors into the modeling world and media world.”

Forbes estimated that she earned approximately $2.3 million thanks to her social media presence through endorsement deals with American Eagle, Motorola, Vuori and more.
