Squid Game: The Challenge may only be 10 episodes, but for one contestant, the experience will last forever. Fan-favorite competitor and beekeeper Rick, also known as Player 232, got a permanent reminder of the alliance he formed on the Netflix reality show.

The series follows 456 contestants as they compete for a cash prize of $4.56 million.

While in the dorms between challenges, Rick aligned himself with a group of like-minded individuals and they dubbed themselves the Gganbu Gang in Episode 2.

The group varied in age, race, and skills, with Rick being the eldest contestant in the competition (he celebrated his 69th birthday in the first episode); but, what they shared was their dedication to playing fair and keeping a low profile in their downtime.

In “The Man With the Umbrella,” the group brainstormed for a nickname and one player suggested “Gganbu” to everybody’s enjoyment. “That means ‘best friends’ in Korea,” Rick happily explained. Stephen, Player 243, said, “Gganbu Gang… I like it!”

Later in the series and before his unfortunate elimination, Rick announced his plans to get the nickname tattooed. And it turns out, that he wasn’t lying! Player 232 recently shared on social media that he got an outline for his permanent ink commemorating his time on the show.

“Just the outline for now. Not done. Will be filled in soon and adding to it,” he captioned his Instagram post, showing off his tattoo.

The ink includes the words “Gganbu Gang” and his player number, as well as motifs from the hit series and his time on the reality show, such as the “Red Light, Green Light” robot and a few Dalgona cookies.

Rick’s teammate Stephen commented on the post, writing, “Tough af!” and fans chimed in with their own messages of approval, many of which commended him for staying true to his word. “You did your promise with Gganbu gang,” wrote one.

On the show, Rick proved that he was a class act and a total sweetheart. In addition to his dedication to his gang, he spent his time in the dorms and in interview segments talking about his family and his love for beekeeping. “I think about my bees everyday. I just wonder if they think about me,” Rick once shared.

Player 232 might not be a winner in real life, but he is a winner in all of our hearts!
