Former child actor Evan Ellingson has passed away at the age of 35.

TMZ reports that the actor was found dead in his home in Fontana, California, on Sunday (Nov. 5). The coroner’s office claimed that there were no signs of foul play.

Ellingson’s father told TMZ that the former actor was staying in a sober-living home after struggling with substance abuse. The actor’s death came as a surprise for the family, who said Ellingson had been “doing better” recently.

Ellingson got his start in acting in 2001 when he landed his first role on General Hospital. He soon had a brief, recurring role on the show Titus.

The actor forged a successful career in television with other appearances in Complete Savages, Bones, 24, and more titles. He also had a successful run in film, starring opposite Cameron Diaz and Alec Baldwin in My Sister’s Keeper and Clint Eastwood‘s Letters from Iwo Jima.

After getting his start in acting at the young age of 13, Ellingson showed much potential in the roles he took on during his brief career.

By the time of his passing, it had been well over a decade since Ellingson took on another role, per his IMDb page.

His cause of death is still pending after an autopsy was conducted this morning, per Deadline.
