The View is about to boost Britney Spears‘s already-impressive book sales. On this morning’s episode, the Hot Topics panel couldn’t stop raving over the pop princess’ new memoir The Woman in Me, which has sold over 1 million copies in the U.S. along during its first week in print.

After Whoopi Goldberg kicked off the chat about Spears’ book — describing the memoir as “funny, moving” and “just terrific,” and predicting The Woman In Me will “change a lot of people’s minds” — the rest of the panel offered their own supportive thoughts.

Sunny Hostin reminded everyone that Spears was just a teenager when she started her career, and wasn’t given the space to grow up and make mistakes without scrutiny because she was in the public eye.

“Think about the fact of being under that type of glare, the glare of media, when you’re 15, or [in] your 20s,” Hostin said.

She then referred to the segments in Spears’ memoir about her relationship with ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake, who has gotten plenty of online hate for the unflattering claims about him included in The Woman In Me.

“She talks about her chapter with Justin Timberlake, and Lance Bass, one of his former bandmates, said, ‘I hope that you can show him some grace and forgiveness, and this is Britney’s story and I hope you can show her some grace,'” Hostin said. “And I was thinking, ‘I did some crazy stuff when I was in my 20s, and I’m so glad there were no cameras around me. I’m so glad there was no social media, because I would not be sitting here.'”

When Ana Navarro protested that Hostin was a “little good Catholic girl” she set the record straight with the retort, “I went to college at 16, I was a maniac!”

Returning to Spears — the topic at hand — she said, “People forget how young she was.”
