After spending some time with Gerry Turner ahead of The Golden Bachelor‘s premiere, Decider learned quite a bit about the 72-year-old senior who’s capturing Bachelor Nation’s heart.

We already knew he loved pickleball and four-wheeling. We knew he married his high school sweetheart and bought their dream home in Indiana. He told Decider his perfect date night is dinner followed by tailgate sitting. And he confirmed his favorite movies are The Blind Side and Titanic.

Four episodes in, Bachelor Nation may have thought they had Gerry all figured out. But when his adventurous one-on-one date with Leslie Fhima ended with a romantic soak in a hot tub, we learned Gerry has A TATTOO. And not just any ink! He has a fairly large lion’s head tattooed on his right shoulder.

The ink is on full display when Gerry hops in the hot tub for a smooching session with Leslie. And we have approximately 2453 questions that need answering. What’s the origin of this tattoo? Is this Wizard of Oz/heart/courage related? Are there more? Did any of the women ask him about it?! First impressions? This grandpa’s arm candy is unexpected, intriguing, and bad-ass. It really puts the GRR in Gerry, and Bachelor Nation is celebrating the cat tat.

Though Gerry is a warm, empathetic, gentle soul, he has told his motorcycle-riding contestant Faith that he used to ride a bike back in the day. His exact words were,”Back when I rode a motorcycle I’d flip a coin in the morning and decide which direction I was going — East or West — and I would just go.” OK, Gerry! We see you!

The Golden Bachelor lead also looked right at home during his edgy “Road To Passion” romance novel cover shoot in Episode 2, so we have a feeling there are more layers to Gerry just waiting to be peeled back. Here’s hoping our golden guy has the opportunity to open up and share more of himself throughout this journey. And Jesse Palmer, if you’re reading this, please get the tattoo deets during a “Women Tell All” or “After The Final Rose” special. Thank you.

New episodes of The Golden Bachelor air on Thursdays from 8:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. ET on ABC. Next-day streaming is available on Hulu. And be sure to read our full interview with Gerry Turner for more Golden Bachelor tidbits.
