Did you know you can put out fires with the sun? Well, sort of.

Nathan Fielder and Emma Stone‘s new “genre-bending” series The Curse is premiering on Paramount+ with Showtime on Nov. 10, two days prior to its Nov. 12 primetime debut on Showtime.

The show is a collaboration between Showtime and A24, and is co-created, directed, and executive produced by Fielder, alongside Safdie brothers Benny and Josh. Stone also serves as an executive producer with Dave McCary and Ali Herting under their Fruit Tree production company, which was launched by Stone and McCary in 2020.

Apart from Fielder, Stone, and Benny Safdie, the cast includes guest stars Barkhad Abdi, Corbin Bernsen, and Constance Shulman.

Fielder and Stone star as Asher and Whitney, two newlyweds who are starring in their own home improvement show called Filanthropy in Española, New Mexico. However, an “alleged curse”may disturb their relationship and their plans to have a baby, per the official Showtime description.

The new teaser trailer dropped today features the couple presumably taping their show. Despite the seemingly sunny scenery and disposition of the couple, ominous music fills the background.

“Did you know you can put out fires with the sun?” Whitney asks.

“No way,” Asher replies.

“Way,” Whitney responds. “Well, sort of. We’re here today with the brave men and women at the Española Fire Department to show them how a few tiny changes to their station can make passive energy the newest recruit on their squad.”

As the camera pans out to reveal their film crew, the two are prompted to film another take, as they repeat their bit with eerie smiles on their faces.

According to Variety, the first three episodes will debut at the New York Film Festival, taking place from Sept. 29 to Oct. 15.

The Curse will air weekly episodes on Showtime on Sunday nights at 10 p.m. ET and will stream on Paramount+ with Showtime. Watch the trailer above.
