Tom Sandoval was planning to make it work with Rachel “Raquel” Leviss following the explosive revelation of their affair — at least, that’s what his Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test co-star Tyler Cameron claimed.

While speaking exclusively with the U.S. Sun, the Bachelorette alum recalled working with Sandoval shortly after it was revealed that he was cheating on his girlfriend of nine years Ariana Madix with their mutual friend. According to him, Scandoval was a hot topic among the Season 2 group — however, there wasn’t preexisting animosity toward the disgraced Vanderpump Rules star.

“I think some people knew [about] it and everyone was curious to see how he really was. So, I think everyone took him for what he was in that moment,” Cameron said. “It definitely got talked about and he spoke about it. He was definitely open about everything.”

While Sandoval and Leviss reportedly called it quits in May, he wished her a happy birthday under her Instagram post earlier this month, writing, “Happy Birthday, Rachel. I really hope ur finding peace and happiness. Miss u friend.” Leviss, who will not be returning for Vanderpump Rules Season 11, ultimately blocked Sandoval, prompting him to slam her as “thirsty” and “immature.”

In light of the estranged couple’s recent exchange, Cameron told the U.S. Sun he was surprised to see Leviss block Sandoval.

“I was shocked. I thought he was going to try and make it work with her,” he said. “But there’s some good story on that you have to watch on the show.”

Sandoval — who allegedly snuck in “endearing photos” of Leviss to the show — previously made headlines after the Special Forces Season 2 trailer was dropped last month. In it, he appears bloodied as he says the “whole country’s pissed off” at him, admitting that he “had an affair” and wants “to take a beating.” According to Cameron, the reality star “got what he asked for.”

“Oh yeah, he gets beaten up,” he confirmed. “I mean, he definitely put himself through punishment and the [directing staff] didn’t take it light on him at all. They went after him.”

While Sandoval was reportedly a changed man by the end of the survival show — which one can only be eliminated from on their own accord — Cameron recalled getting into trouble with the bar owner.

“He would always get us in trouble, but he was always fun to be around. He brought a whole different element to it all, and he’s definitely different, and he was something,” he said, before adding, “The first day, [Tom] got me in trouble because we were switching clothes and it was just funny, little stupid shit. You know, running into places, being in places we weren’t supposed to be and all that.”

Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test Season 2 will premiere on Monday, Sept. 25 at 9/8c on Fox.
