Disney+ Price Increasing in October—Sign Up For $11/Month While You Still Can

On October 12, Disney is set to increase Disney+ and Hulu pricing for the second time in less than a year and the brand is looking for ways to crack down on password sharing in the new year, just like Netflix did earlier this year.

The news was announced yesterday by CEO Bob Iger on Disney’s third-quarter earnings call; he cited the unprofitability of their streaming services as the reason for the price hike.

The increases will only affect the ad-free streaming tiers for Disney+ and Hulu, while the ad-supported plans will remain at their current prices.

Disney+ ad-free will go from $11/month to $14/month and Hulu ad-free will jump from $15/month to $18/month.

A new bundle, combining both Disney+ and Hulu ad-free, will also be introduced on October 12; it’ll cost $20/month — that’s just $2/month more than ad-free Hulu on its own for two services. It’s unclear how these price increases will affect the legacy Disney Bundle, which combines ad-free Disney+, ad-free Hulu, and ESPN+.

There’s no word on what Iger and Disney plan on introducing to combat password sharing just yet, but

How to Sign Up for Disney+ and Hulu:

If you sign up for either service today, you’ll lock in the current prices for three months before your account is affected by the price hike.

To sign up for Disney+, head over to their website and choose the “Premium” plan option. Create an account, enter your payment information, and start streaming tons of movies, shows like Secret Invasion, High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, and the upcoming Ahsoka.

It’s that simple for Hulu, too. On their website, after clicking through to sign up for only Hulu, choose the “Hulu (No Ads)” plan and enter your payment info. Hulu actually offers a one month free trial, so your payment won’t kick in immediately. Shows you’ll be able to stream over that period include the new seasons of Only Murders in the Building, Futurama, and Reservation Dogs, new episodes of FX series like Justified: City Primeval and What We Do in the Shadows, and so much more.
