Already missing the twists and turns of summer sleeper hit Silo? The good news is the return of another one of Apple TV+‘s audacious sci-fi shows is almost here. Foundation Season 2 is set to premiere shortly, bringing fans back into the wild world of Isaac Asimov’s epic masterpiece. But when does Foundation Season 2 premiere on Apple TV+?

The first season of loosely adapted the earliest books in Asimov’s centuries-sprawling galactic epic. When Gaal Dornick (Lou Llobel) leaves her superstitious homeworld to work with idol Hari Seldon (Jared Harris) in the center of the Empire’s power, Trantor, she has no idea the adventure she’s in for. Hari believes in a complex form of mathematics called Psychohistory, with which he can predict future patterns in human history. Hari believes that the Empire is teetering on the edge of catastrophic collapse that would plunge all of humanity into an intergalactic dark age akin to apocalypse. The one hope? Start a “Foundation” on the far-flung planet of Terminus to shorten this dark age to save humanity’s destiny.

By the time Foundation Season 1 ended, a grieving Gaal had put herself into a century-plus sleep cycle to travel all the way back to her homeworld. There, she meets with Salvor Hardin (Leah Harvey), the Warden of Terminus, which is like being the sheriff of the Foundation. Salvor has successfully shepherded the first generation of Foundation folks through “The First Crisis” and has now been pulled into Gaal’s future path. The reason? She’s actually Gaal’s biological daughter thanks to embryo farming.

While mother and daughter must figure out what to do next, things are beginning to become unstable on Trantor. At the end of Foundation Season 1, Brother Day (Lee Pace), the middle “brother” clone of the original Emperor Cleon, learns that his genetic dynasty is compromised. While Brother Dawn (Cassian Bilton), Brother Day, and Brother Dusk (Terrence Mann) have lived many cycles of lives over believing they are one continuous clone of the original Cleon, their DNA has been altered. Meaning with each subsequent generation, the integrity of their Cleon DNA fades, prompting both an existential and political crisis.

Can’t wait to find out what happens next on Foundation? And if any other Asimov creations, be they Hober Mallow or The Mule, pop up in Season 2? Here’s everything you need to know about how to watch Foundation Season 2 on Apple TV+…
