The wait is over: James Cameron‘s latest epic, Avatar: The Way of Water, will land on streaming services this summer.

Avatar: The Way of Water will premiere on streaming platforms June 7. The aquatic adventure will be premiering on both Disney+ and Max, the rebranded and “enhanced” version of HBO Max that Warner Bros. Discovery is launching on May 23.

Disney+ will also include bonus content alongside the movie, featuring the filmmakers, cast and crew.

Avatar: The Way of Water is the long-awaited sequel to Cameron’s 2009 blockbuster that went on to become the highest grossing movie in box office history. After marine Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) found home on the planet of Pandora in the first installment, The Way of Water shows Sully defending his family’s planet against a familiar threat.

Its star-studded cast also includes Zoe Saldaña, Sigourney Weaver and Kate Winslet, amongst others.

It earned $2.3 billion worldwide in the box office, becoming the third highest-grossing movie of all time behind Avatar and Avengers: Endgame.

It looks like fans won’t have to wait another decade for the next installment in Sully’s journey on Pandora. A third installment is already slated to premiere in theaters Dec. 20, 2024, and a fourth installment is also already in the works, since parts of both were filmed at the same time as The Way of Water.

Until you can stream The Way of Water this June, you can watch Avatar on Disney+ to catch up on the story in the meantime.
