While it may feel like a new Jane Fonda movie is coming out every other day, the famed actress told The View that she’s currently “unemployed” and fears she’s “never going to work again” during this morning’s episode of the hit daytime talk show.

Fonda stopped by the show alongside her Book Club: The Next Chapter co-stars Diane Keaton, Mary Steenburgen and Candice Bergen, where Joy Behar pointed out that she’s “busier than ever.”

“She never stops,” Bergen chimed in about Fonda — who recently starred in 80 For Brady, Moving On and held a voiceover role in the upcoming animated movie Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken.

When Behar asked if the 85-year-old star ever thought she would be so in demand at this point in her career, Fonda replied, “No. No, I swear I feel so blessed, I pinch myself every day at my age that I’m still working. Even at the height of my career — which was in the ‘70s — I didn’t work this much.”

She added, “On the other hand, I’m unemployed now and I don’t know when my next job is coming,” before turning to her fellow actor peers and asking, “I bet all my friends here would agree that it’s like, ‘I’m never going to work again.’ Right? Do you worry?”

Meanwhile, Keaton cheekily responded, “I worry all the time about anything.”

The foursome’s new sequel, Book Club: The Next Chapter, sees the women taking a trip to Italy for Fonda’s character’s bachelorette party — hence the elaborate, Italian-themed setup on The View’s stage.

As for why they decided to head to Europe, Bergen said she came up with the idea while promoting the first movie back in 2018.

“We were on our way back from Las Vegas where we were promoting the first movie and on the plane — we thought that the movie might do some business,” she explained. “So I said, ‘Maybe we should make a sequel and we should shoot it in Italy.’ I don’t know why I said that.”

The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC. Plus, Book Club: The Next Chapter is currently playing in theaters.
