Deidre Hall has played Dr. Marlena Evans on Days Of Our Lives for over 45 years, and in that time she has survived near-death experiences, devil possession and a move from NBC to Peacock, where the show has aired since 2022.

Hall is now commemorating her 5,000th episode on the show today (May 12), an event that’s given her and her Days family cause for celebration.

Several of Hall’s co-stars, past and present, have posted videos to celebrate the milestone, including Remington Hoffman, who plays Li Shin on the show.”

“You’ve really achieved what most actors in our industry just dream of and it’s an incredible pleasure to know you,” Hoffman shared, while Alison Sweeney (who played Sami Brady for over 20 years on the show) also added her thoughts, saying, “5,000 episodes! That is just incredible, but not surprising because you are incredible!”

These tributes and many more can be found on the Days Of Our Lives Twitter account, @DaysPeacock.

Hall herself had the chance to reflect on her time as Marlena, a role for which she received three Daytime Emmy nominations and won five Soap Opera Digest Awards. In an interview with People, she recalled two of her most infamous moments from the show. When discussing the time Marlena was possessed by the devil, Hall joked, “The possession storyline is obviously going to be on my tombstone.”

Another standout moment for her was the episode where her devil-possessed character burned down a church in 1995. “One of my kids was born on the night that I burned down the church. I’d gotten a call from [my surrogate] Robin saying, ‘I think I’m going to go to the hospital.’ I said, ‘We’ve got to burn this church. I’ve got a baby on the way.’ I drove to the hospital in flame retardant clothes. And then, within hours, there was a baby in my arms,” Hall said.

Hall also added that Marlena’s ongoing relationship with John Black, played by actor Drake Hogestyn, has remained a constant source of pride for her.

“We’re the couple that teaches you that people stay together through thick and thin, and they stay loving, and they stay sensual and sexual, and that’s worth fighting for,”she said.

On the 5,000th episode, Black even references Hall’s big career milestone when he takes Marlena out for dinner to celebrate her treating her 5,000th patient.

“What an incredible career you’ve had and continue to have. You’ve provided so much care and comfort to people in need. And through your hard work and determination, your dignity, your style, your grace—the most important thing—your loving heart… So, here’s to you Dr. Marlena Evans. You are a true legend,” he says, and later adds, “Happy 5,000th, doc.”

You can catch Hall’s 5,000th episode now on Peacock, and with the show’s recent two-year renewal on the streamer, hopefully that means Dr. Marlena Evans won’t be retiring any time soon.
