Days of Our Lives is staying put! The long-running soap opera has been renewed for two more seasons at Peacock, carrying it through its 60th season.

The series recently found a new home on Peacock after leaving NBC last year. The decision was reported to be a loss for the network, as the show’s replacement was causing a substantial dip in viewership.

Though, the change is working wonders for the soap as the streamer has picked up the series for two more seasons. Peacock currently houses the latest two seasons of the beloved show, along with the spin-off, Days of Our Lives: Beyond Salem, and the 2021 Christmas special, Days of Our Lives: A Very Salem Christmas.

Vulture editor Josef Adalian was the first to report the news, tweeting March 9, “Nothing official, and no comment from the streamer but good news for #DOOL fans: Hearing the show WILL be coming back for more seasons on Peacock.”

The news was later confirmed by the streamer.

The Days of Our Lives Twitter account celebrated the renewal, writing, “Cue the trumpets.” The tweet included a graphic which reads, “Proud to announce two more years of Days of Our Lives! 60 years, here we come!”

In a press release, Peacock wrote that the soap opera is “a consistent favorite among fans and critics alike” and aired its 14,000th episode in 2020, making it NBC’s longest-running drama series until 2022, when it relocated to Peacock. The streamer added that the series has been a Top 10 title since moving to the platform.

Days of Our Lives premiered in 1965 on NBC, where it aired for 57 years. Following its big move, it was reported that NBC had a drop in ratings and lost nearly 750,000 viewers by replacing the series with NBC News Daily.

Created by Ted and Betty Corday, Days of Our Lives takes place in a fictional city in Illinois and follows “the intertwined lives, love stories and suspenseful adventures of the town’s residents.”

Due to its long run on air, the show has cycled through many notable cast members, such as the late John Aniston and Quinn Redeker, Francis Reid, Suzanna Rogers and Lisa Rinna. The show has won 61 Emmy Awards, including most recently 2022’s Outstanding Writing for a Daytime Drama. That same year, both Days of Our Lives and the Beyond Salem spin-off received nominations for Outstanding Drama.
