Who Is Kam Evans in Sex/Life Season 2?

We first meet the dashing Kam after Sasha wraps up her TV interview with Soledad O’Brien. (Yes, THE iconic Soledad O’Brien guest stars on one of Netflix’s horniest shows. We were surprised, too.) Sash gets interviewed about her new book, The Third Way, and reminds women that they don’t need to get married to have it all. She even tells viewers that she recently turned down a marriage proposal herself. Hmm!

After the show, Sasha and Billie gush over the opportunity while a man approaches them in slow motion. “My god, Sash,” he says when he reaches them. “You did it. Everything we talked about in college. Everything we dreamt about, times about a thousand. And you look stunning.”

We quickly learn this man’s name is Kam, and thanks to a flashback, we also know that he and Sasha used to have STEAMY Billie and Brad-level sex and were in love. When we jump back to present-day, Sasha is so flustered by the sight of Kam that she drops her coffee on the floor, and her intrigue only grows when he tells he left his old job at The Cleveland Clinic to run an international medical non-profit, and is about to be interviewed on disaster relief efforts in the Congo.

After realizing it’s been 17 years since they’ve seen each other, Kam asks Sasha to dinner and takes her exclusive date to The Met, which he calls “our place,” later in the episode. After walking through museum a bit, Kam leads Sasha to a dinner table he set up and Sasha flashes back to the last time they were in that spot together. Back in the day, Kam told Sasha he got into Stanford in the very same room. He asked her to go with him and essentially give up her own dreams, then he proposed to her by fashioning his Met button into a ring, and she accepted. Before Sasha flew off to California, her grandma told her to stay and encouraged her to open her acceptance letter to Columbia. Sasha decided to ditch the flight and ghost Kam, because she wanted to give her own dreams a chance.

Though it’s been nearly two decades since she called off their engagement, Kam told Sasha he’s never stopped thinking about moment and wants them to be together. When Sasha arrived home that night, she pulled out the placeholder engagement ring Kam gave her in the museum all those years ago. So clearly she hasn’t forgotten him either.
