Did Johnny Knoxville Just Spoil ‘White Lotus’ Season 3 Location?

The White Lotus has taken us from the sandy beaches of Hawaii to the coasts of Italy. And it’s entirely possible the crew will be heading Asia next — at least according to Johnny Knoxville, who may or may not have spoiled the new location for Season 3 of the hit HBO show.

While speaking with Vulture about the cancellation of his Hulu series Reboot, Knoxville talked about his “close friend,” White Lotus creator Mike White, and revealed whether he’d consider joining the cast if the opportunity presented itself.

“Are you kidding? Mike White is a very close friend of mine. He and I had been in Tokyo together,” he said. “I think that’s where the next … oh, I’m not giving anything away.”

Knoxville added, “I might call him again as soon as this is over.”

Well, he might have to now!

This isn’t the first time we’ve heard details about what the third season might entail. Ahead of the White Lotus Season 2 premiere in October 2022, White was already toying with the idea of potential locations.

“I think it’d be fun to maybe go to a whole different continent,” he told Deadline at the time. “You know, we did Europe, and maybe Asia, something crazy like that, that would be fun.”

The creator gave even more details on his Season 3 hopes during the Unpacking S2 E7 special. He said, “The first season kind of highlighted money, and then the second season is sex. I think the third season would be maybe a satirical and funny look at death and Eastern religion and spirituality. It feels like it could be a rich tapestry to do another round at White Lotus,” per Variety.

Season 1 of the Golden Globe award-winning series was filmed at the Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea in Hawaii, while the second season took place in Sicily at the Four Seasons San Domenico Palace. The show was green-lit for a third season back in November 2022 — so we’ll just have to wait and see what White has in store for the future of the White Lotus hotels and the wacky set of characters that inhabit them.

Both seasons of The White Lotus are currently streaming on HBO Max.
