Daisy Jones & the Six tells the story of a fictitious Fleetwood Mac-esque ’70s rock act that became huge because of their music and infamous due to their calamitous breakup. The Six was initially a super serious rock band fronted by Billy Dunne that had already evolved from a local sibling act. When Billy writes a catchy duet, their record label teams them up with a riotous princess of the Sunset Strip named Daisy Jones. The combination is music alchemy and soon the label wants Daisy paired with the band full time. Naturally, drama ensues. Love triangles explode, bandmates feud, and secret love affairs implode behind closed doors.

Everything about the book Daisy Jones & the Six transports the reader into the messy, glamorous world of ’70s rock and we’re hoping the upcoming show is no different. Here’s everything we know about Daisy Jones & the Six on Prime Video so far…

What We Know About Daisy Jones & the Six

Daisy Jones & the Six is obviously based on the bestselling novel by Taylor Jenkins Reid. That book is written like a faux oral history of the band. The story is told from interviews with the main characters which are spliced together in such a way to expose scandalous secrets, simmering disagreements, and multiple sides of the same story. Vanity Fair reported that Prime Video’s series is going to play with this concept by using documentary-style talking heads interviews from slightly older versions of the characters. We get a sneak peek of Daisy’s confessional in the first trailer.

When Will the Daisy Jones & the Six Soundtrack Release? Listen to the First Single “Regret Me” Now”

We might not yet have a release date for the official Daisy Jones & the Six soundtrack — all we know is Atlantic Records will be releasing the songs during the rollout of the series — the first single “Regret Me” from the fictional album Aurora was released on January 25, 2023. (The album art for the single is a clever recreation of the Aurora album art as described in the book.) You can pre-order Aurora the album on CD or vinyl for a March 3 release.

You can listen to “Regret Me” on Spotify, iTunes, Amazon Music, or YouTube (embedded below).

Who Performs the Music on the Daisy Jones & the Six Soundtrack?

While the fictitious band Daisy Jones & the Six is meant to be inspired by the likes of Fleetwood Mac, the songs they play are their own thing. Author Taylor Jenkins Reid included lyrics for all the Daisy Jones & the Six songs referenced in her book at the end of the text. For this project, the producers enlisted Blake Mills and Tony Berg as their primary songwriters on the show’s soundtrack. However, the aforementioned Vanity Fair piece also let it slip that some other collaborators helped out with crafting the band’s song. Specifically, indie queen Phoebe Bridgers. According to Amazon, there are 24 original songs that have been written for the show and recorded by the cast.

The songs on the show’s soundtrack were indeed recorded by the actors playing Daisy Jones and the Six. The stars spent the show’s production hiatus during COVID drilling themselves with vocal coaches and on their respect instruments. There are plans to release an album of the band’s songs when the show launches and it’s even been suggested that the stars of Daisy Jones & the Six could still put on a concert at some point.

So who are these would-be rock stars, anyway?
