Roslyn Singleton, Who Appeared on ‘AGT’ After Cancer Battle Went Viral, Dead at 39

Roslyn Singleton, who appeared on shows like America’s Got Talent and The Ellen Degeneres Show after going viral during her emotional cancer battle, has died. She was 39.

Singleton first appeared on our screens two years ago, when her husband Ray Singleton uploaded a video of himself serenading her just before she went in for surgery for her brain cancer. He confirmed her passing in an Instagram post on Wednesday (Nov. 16).

“Our wife earned her wings yesterday while peacefully sleeping right at home where she wanted to be,” he wrote. “This road ahead is going to be INCREDIBLY long & difficult! She taught us all SOMETHING.”

He continued, “She’s where we’re all trying to get one day so no need to be sad! Now we celebrate her legacy, her impact, her story & HER SPIRIT! She will LIVE FOREVER!!”

Roslyn, who was a Navy veteran, first battled cancer in 2013, telling Ellen Degeneres during a 2020 appearance on The Ellen Show that her tumor was the size of an orange. Roslyn was in remission for six years before she was diagnosed with yet another brain tumor.

Her husband’s video, which he said he made to “make her smile” after surgery, landed them on The Ellen Show and scored him an audition on Season 16 of America’s Got Talent.

While he may not have won the competition show, he certainly won over the crowd with his audition, which brought many in the crowd to tears, including his wife, who later joined him on the AGT stage. There, she met judges Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, Howie Mandel and Sofia Vergara.

Roslyn told the judges she had “been crying since he started” his performance and that she had “never heard him sing so good.”

Earlier this year, the couple was also featured on the OWN Network show, Black Love, a docuseries that highlights love stories from the Black community.

Just hours after announcing her passing, Ray took to Instagram, where he often documented Roslyn’s journey, to caption a photo of his wife, “You really snuck up outta here dawg, just went to sleep..sneakkyyyy! You did it your way Champ! #LongLiveRos.”
