‘Jeopardy!’ Finalists Fail to Name Jay Cutler Clue, Call Him “Tim Tebow”

Once again, it’s looking like the Jeopardy! finalists might need to brush up on their sports knowledge, and maybe binge a little E! Network while they’re at it. During Tuesday night’s (Nov. 15) second round of finals in the Tournament of Champions, everyone failed to correctly name a famous pro football player who has also appeared on a reality show.

The flub came during the Double Jeopardy! round of the hit quiz show featuring competitors Amy Schneider, Sam Buttrey and Andrew He. While presenting the category “First-Time Responses,” which gave answers that have never before been used on Jeopardy!, host Ken Jennings read the clue, “The occupation seen at work on the left, or the pro football retiree on the right.”

Contestants were presented with a photo of Jay Cutler, the former quarterback for the Chicago Bears and sometimes-star of the now-canceled reality show Very Cavallari, where he appeared alongside ex-wife Kristin Cavallari. He, one of the contestants, went on to guess that the photo featured Tim Tebow, a different famed NFL player, while the other two contestants didn’t even bother to buzz in.

And of course, fans of the show were quick to point out the mistake on Twitter. Nothing slips past this crew!

“Both Tim Tebow & Jay Cutler might be unhappy with that,” one quipped, while another simply wrote, “LOL TEBOW.”

Someone else joked, “I never realized how much Cutler looked like Tebow,” before another commented, “I’m watching as well and I laughed.”

In the end, Schneider ended up winning the game by a landslide after wagering only $1,100 in the Final Jeopardy! round, in which everyone answered incorrectly, ringing in a total of $21,100 compared to He’s $1,999 and Buttrey’s $9,400.

Hopefully the contestants won’t be thwarted by another NFL clue, but maybe after this flop, they’ll be scared into becoming football fans.

Jeopardy! airs on weekdays at 7/6c on ABC.
