Alyssa Farah Griffin Says Republicans “Deserve to Get Clobbered” After Boosting Extremists on ‘The View’

Despite oftentimes being the only Republican at the table, The View co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin said her party deserved to get “clobbered” following last week’s midterm elections, where the expected “red wave” turned out to be a mere ripple.

The conversation came as the ladies discussed former Vice President Mike Pence’s upcoming interview where he claimed Donald Trump’s tweets during the Jan. 6 insurrection “angered” him and slammed his words as “reckless.” Griffin, who said the clip made her “emotional” as she worked for Pence for two years and “got to know his family,” was “glad” that he spoke out against Trump, prompting her to urge the Republican party to separate themselves from the former president.

“After the midterms, seeing what happened this past week, the absolute referendum on extremism in my party, it made me think back to a piece I wrote in January of 2021, so just days after the insurrection,” she reflected. “I wrote something along the lines of, ‘Republicans must come to grips with the fact that we’ve lost the moral high ground as a party. We’ve accepted lying to the American public about the election results, we’ve adopted a win-at-all-costs approach, and the chickens are coming home to roost.'”

She continued, “We deserve to get clobbered because we boosted extremists, we boosted election deniers, and now I am hoping and I am praying that this is a moment where our country says, ‘Turn the page on Donald Trump for good.'”

Griffin added that she never wants to watch a video again of “an American Vice President talking about how the former president incited a mob against him, a mob chanting to hang him on American soil,” before pointing out that “this is not who were are as a country” and that she hopes “this is a wake-up moment for us.”
