‘Monster’ Season 2 and Season 3 Headed To Netflix, But No More Dahmer

Netflix is keeping Ryan Murphy busy. Following the undeniable success of both his Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story and The Watcher series, the streamer confirmed today that future installments of both shows are on the horizon. Except we may be getting to know some new characters.

Adding on to the true crime wave, Netflix has officially ordered two more seasons of Monster, which broke the Nielsen record as the seventh most viewed streaming program in a single week in the U.S. with its telling of cannibal serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer. According to a press release provided to Decider, the anthology series, brought by Murphy and Ian Brennan, will continue to tackle the stories behind other “monstrous figures who have impacted society” with its upcoming seasons. Whether we will see Evan Peters return as a new psychopath has yet to be known, but if we start rallying now, maybe there will be a chance we can see him again.

But wait! That’s not all.

While Monster continued to break records, it was a big month as Murphy, Brennan, and Eric Newman’s The Watcher dropped just a few weeks later. The show told the true story of the Brannock family, who moved into a beautiful home in the suburbs of New Jersey only to be tormented by oddball neighbors and mysterious stalker letters sent by someone who calls themself The Watcher. Luckily for fans who binged the show in one day, Netflix has ordered a second season of the series.

“Audiences can’t take their eyes off Monster and The Watcher,” Bela Bajaria, head of global TV at Netflix, said in the press release. “The creative team of Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan on Monster along with Eric Newman on The Watcher are masterful storytellers who captivated audiences all over the world.”

She added, “The back-to-back force of these two series is due to Ryan’s distinct original voice which created cultural sensations and we are thrilled to continue telling stories in the Monster and Watcher universes.”

A release date for future seasons of both shows has yet to be announced.
