From the hospital to the fire station: it appears that General Hospital’s favorite villain, Kelly Thiebaud, will be saying goodbye to the ABC drama in the next few months as she returns to her role in the sixth season of Station 19.
Thiebaud, who plays Dr. Britt Westbourne, has starred on General Hospital on-and-off since 2012 and recently won the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. According to Deadline, she will wrap up her role in November, although, there has been no word on how her character will be written out of the series.
The actress took to an Instagram post to announce the news, writing, “Excited to be back on @station19 stirring up trouble!”
After brief stints on The Secret Life of the American Teenager and Days of Our Lives, Thiebaud joined the cast of Station 19, the second spinoff to the hit medical drama, Grey’s Anatomy, during the show’s third season. The series follows a group of firefighters who work at Seattle’s Station 19.
Thiebaud plays Eva Vasquez, the widow of a fallen firefighter who went on to have an affair with her husband’s colleague, Jack Gibson, played by Grey Damon. In a teaser photo posted to the show’s Instagram page, they said they’re “turning things up a degree,” for Season 6 and we couldn’t be more excited.
However, there were mixed reactions to the news of the actress leaving one show for the other, with one person posting, “Nooooooooo!! She is the best on there!!!!” regarding her role on General Hospital.
Another wrote, “@kellythiebaud is phenomenal! Hated her at first! Which is what makes her so dynamic! [Love] when she showed up on Station19! and now she’s coming back! But I’m shattered she’s leaving GH! Maybe it’s temporary?”
Someone else said they “may have to check that show out just for her,” while another person said, “I love Britt. I’m so sad to hear this but wish Kelly all the best.”
General Hospital airs weekdays at 3 p.m. ET and Station 19 Season 6 is set to premiere Oct. 6, both on ABC.
