‘Stranger Things’ Actor Joseph Quinn Jams “Master Of Puppets” With Metallica Backstage At Lollapalooza

Stranger Things actor Joseph Quinn has been enjoying the buzz surrounding his character’s rendition of Metallica‘s “Master of Puppets” in the recent season of the popular Netflix series.

Now the young star had the chance to meet the band backstage at Chicago’s Lollapalooza music festival. Even better, he had the chance to jam the actual song with the band in their tuning room.

“Thank you so much for letting us use the track,” Quinn said to Metallica after noting that it’s all he’s listened to for the past two years.

Lead singer James Hetfield was appreciative. “Thanks for doing it justice.”

The Netflix series helped push the 1986 track to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Hetfield shared his own enthusiasm for the series. “I’m a big fan of it, have been since season 1,” he told Quinn. “My kids and I, it’s been a bonding experience for us.”

Quinn was then invited for an impromptu backstage jam to which he replied that he “was a bit rusty.” Shredding next to Hetfield, he managed to somewhat keep up with the heavy metal veterans. After they were done, drummer Lars Ulrich joked, “I’d like to make an announcement that Metallica is now a five-piece.”

That wasn’t all. Metallica gifted Quinn with a custom B.C. Rich guitar identical to the one he played in the show which they also signed for him.
