New Movies and Shows to Stream This Weekend: Peaky Blinders Season 6, For All Mankind (Season 3), and Beyond Infinity: Buzz and the Journey to Lightyear

This weekend, there’s no shortage of great shows and movies to watch at home on just about every platform. It’s been two and a half ears since we last saw Tommy Shelby and his gang on Peaky Blinders, and we’re amped to see how the series wraps itself up on Netflix this weekend. Over on Apple TV+, For All Mankind takes one giant leap… forward in time to bring us into a new decade of the hypothetical space race when it returns. And speaking of fictional astronauts, Beyond Infinity: Buzz and the Journey to Lightyear, the new documentary on Disney+, provides a look at the history of one of Pixar’s most beloved characters, Buzz Lightyear, whose origin story, Lightyear, comes out in theaters on June 17.

New on Netflix June 10: Peaky Blinders, Season 6

It’s not just the sixth season of Peaky Blinders, it’s also the show’s last, and much has changed since we last saw Cillian Murphy as gang leader Tommy Shelby. (Most notably, the death of actress Helen McCrory, who played Aunt Polly, casts a shadow on this latest season). Fortunately, the rest of the show’s stellar cast, including Tom Hardy, Paul Anderson, Finn Cole, Anya Taylor-Joy, Sophie Rundle, and Sam Claflin are returning to finish up the story of the Shelby gang, one of England’s most notorious criminal enterprises of the 1920s. Tune in this weekend to binge all six episodes of the show’s final season to see how the gang’s story wraps up.

New on Apple TV+ June 10: For All Mankind (Season 3)

One of the first Apple TV+ shows ever, For All Mankind has, thus far, been a period piece, featuring fashion and set pieces straight out of the Summer of Love and the decade that followed, wrapped into a alternate-reality sci-fi drama, set amid the backdrop of the space race. Season three brings us a little closer to present day, as it’s set two decades after season two, in the 1990s, as NASA remains determined to make faster progress than their Cosmonaut foes. After a base was established on the Moon in season two, our intrepid astronauts set their sights on Mars, and decades after the start of the series, we have the privilege of watching both the science behind the space missions and our characters as they evolve.

New on Disney+ June 10: Beyond Infinity: Buzz and the Journey to Lightyear

The evolution of the toy astronaut Buzz Lightyear is about as meta as you can get. Buzz was originally created as a fictional child’s toy in an animated film series (and thanks to marketing and commercialism, that Buzz was turned into a real toy that actual, live, human kids could play with, my kids have like 4 of them, ask me anything!) and now the character of Buzz Lightyear will be given his own origin story in the upcoming film, Lightyear, where we’ll learn the story of the “real” “astronaut” that inspired the toy featured in the original films. Beyond Infinity: Buzz and the Journey to Lightyear is a documentary that provides the backstory to Buzz, how the original version came to be, and how his story (and the men, Tim Allen and Chris Evans, who have voiced him) came to embody him.
