Why Is Bam Margera Not In ‘Jackass Forever’?

When Jackass Forever premiered in theaters in February, audiencew were introduced to a few new members of the Jackass squad. Old faves Johnny Knoxville, Steve-O, Chris Pontius, Ehren McGhehey, Preston Lacy, Dave England and Jason “WeeMan” Acuna were joined by new faces like Eric Manaka and Rachel Wolfson, among others. But there’s one former Jackass collaborator who’s absent from the latest film: Bam Margera.

Margera did begin work on the film along with all of his former co-stars when it started filming in 2020, but production was suspended thanks to Covid-19. When filming resumed, Margera wasn’t asked back. The big question is why?

Why is Bam Margera not in Jackass Forever?

Variety reports that Margera was released from the film after he after allegedly tested positive for Adderall.

In an interview, Knoxville said of Margera’s absence, “We wanted him all throughout the movie, but unfortunately that’s not the way it worked out. It’s really heartbreaking. I love Bam. We all love Bam. He’s our brother, you know? You just hope that he takes it upon himself to get the help that he needs, because we all care about him a lot.”

Margera has been in and out of rehab throughout his career, and addressed his addictions as well as his relationship with his parents, Phil and April, on a season of VH1’s Family Therapy With Dr. Jenn. On that show, he expressed suicidal thoughts and he attributed his alcohol and drug abuse to his grief over losing his best friend, former Jackass performer and Viva La Bam co-star Ryan Dunn. Dunn was killed in a car accident in 2011.

As a result of his termination from Jackass Forever, Margera is suing Paramount, Knoxville and Jackass co-creator Jeff Tremaine, claiming wrongfully termination, and alleging “psychological torture in the form of a sham Wellness Agreement.”

Jackass Forever is streaming now on Paramount+.
