‘The View’ Hosts Slam Rudy Giuliani’s Reported ‘Masked Singer’ Appearance: “He Should Be In Handcuffs”

The Masked Singer has faced a wave of backlash since Deadline reported that Rudy Giuliani was allegedly unmasked during an upcoming episode of the Fox reality show, prompting judges Ken Jeong and Robin Thicke to storm offstage. During today’s episode of The View, the panel echoed this pushback, calling Giuliani “a disgrace” for appearing on the show while he faces federal investigation for his role in the Jan. 6 insurrection.

“We get to sit next to people we disagree with all the time, but this just feels different to me,” Sunny Hostin said. “Rudy Giuliani, who basically led an insurrection against our country and our democracy, is in some kind of bear suit, freakin’ singing? I would have a problem.”

After Sara Haines questioned who told Giuliani that this would be a good idea, guest host Tara Setmayer replied, “He doesn’t have advisors anymore, because most of them have been indicted and convicted because of their ties to Ukraine and being a Russian agent.”

“Rudy Giuliani is a disgrace. It’s a shame,” Setmayer said. “You went from being America’s mayor to having a bad hair dye job, sweating in public, to this joke of being an unmasked singer.”

She continued: “He helped incite the Jan. 6 insurrection. He was one of the biggest purveyors of the big lie about the fraudulent election … Being in the epicenter of an insurrection in the United States should not be rewarded on a show like that.”

Jeong and Thicke’s walkout led Joy Behar to reminisce about when she and View moderator Whoopi Goldberg walked out of a 2010 interview with Bill O’Reilly after he, “was being thoroughly obnoxious about the question of whether all Muslims are terrorists.”

“It made a statement, and I think that the guys walking off on the show made a statement,” Setmayer replied. “Because Rudy Giuliani shouldn’t be unmasked on the show. He should be in handcuffs, arrested by the Department of Justice.”

The View airs weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
