‘Blue’s Clues’ Hosts Reunite on Thanksgiving Day Parade Float: “Literally Almost Bawled My Eyes Out”

Blue’s Clues celebrated its big 25th anniversary earlier this year, and to celebrate, the three hosts of the beloved children’s show reunited for yesterday’s (Nov. 25) spectacular Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Lining up on a larger-than-life Blue’s Clues-themed float, the three familiar faces donned matching striped-scarves to commemorate their special show.

Steve Burns (Steve), Donovan Patton (Joe) and Joshua Dela Cruz (Josh) appeared together during the parade, standing beneath the big blue pup’s balloon. The Blue’s Clues float has been featured at the annual event since 1999, host Savannah Guthrie noted — but this year, thanks to the show’s silver anniversary, there was a special surprise hiding for all Blue’s Clues fans.

During the parade, the trio came together to perform “You Can’t Spell Blue Without You,” showing their gratitude to the show’s fans for 25 years of fun. Nickelodeon, which broadcasts the show, shared a clip after the performance.

“Loved seeing all our #BluesCluesAndYou fam at the #MacysParade,” they wrote. “Anyone else getting really emotional?”

The answer was yes, it seems, because a whole slew of Blue’s Clues fans rolled up to Twitter on Thanksgiving Day to show their appreciation for the reunion. “im finally doing a tiktok scroll and it’s really comforting to see I wasn’t alone in actual tears forming in my eyes upon seeing the Blue’s Clues float at the parade today,” one Twitter user shared.

Burns was the original host of Blue’s Clues, starting in 1996. Patton stepped in, taking over the role in 2002 after Burns’ suddenly left the series. Dela Cruz currently hosts the Blue’s Clues revival series, Blue’s Clues and You, which airs on Nickelodeon.

Blue’s Clues has been on a real kick this year, thanks to its ongoing 25th anniversary. Burns recently posted a 25th anniversary video addressing fans, saying: “I guess I just wanted to say that after all these years, I never forgot you … ever. And I’m super glad we’re still friends.” Further, the lovable host joined TikTok just last week, proving that Blue’s Clues is truly here forever.
