Leah Remini Tapped To Guest Host ‘The Wendy Williams Show’ Amid Williams’ Ongoing Health Complications

The Wendy Williams Show‘s delayed Season 13 will kick off without its titular host next week, with guest hosts like Leah Remini filling in while Wendy Williams continues to recover from ongoing health issues.

The Fox talk show’s new season will premiere Monday, Oct. 18, and feature a panel of Williams’ “favorite hot talk panelists”: Devyn Simone, Bevy Smith, Elizabeth Wagmeister, and Yo. From Tuesday to Friday, Remini will take over hosting duties.

“Wendy’s shoes are hard to fill, so we needed to find the right fit,” executive producer David Perler said in a statement. “Leah will bring a lot of fun and energy to our viewers with a few surprises along the way.”

The Season 13 premiere was originally slated for Sept. 20, before being pushed to Oct. 4 after Williams tested positive for breakthrough Covid-19 amid existing health struggles. After it was once again pushed back to Oct. 18, the show announced that Williams was still on the mend.

“Wendy continues to be under medical supervision and meets with her medical team on a daily basis. She is making progress but is experiencing serious complications as a direct result of Graves’ Disease and her thyroid condition,” an Oct. 12 Instagram statement read. “It has been determined that more time is needed before she is able to return to her live hosting duties… As soon as she’s ready, she will be back in her treasured purple chair.”

The Wendy Williams Show Season 13 premieres Monday, Oct. 18. Check your local listings for more information.
